Terms of Service
Last updated: July 2026
These Terms of Service govern your use of ScrollCheckpoint. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these terms. Please read them carefully.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using ScrollCheckpoint, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the app.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to create a ScrollCheckpoint account or use the app. If you are under the age of majority in your jurisdiction, you confirm that a parent or guardian has reviewed and agreed to these terms on your behalf.
3. Account Registration
To use certain features of ScrollCheckpoint, you must create an account. You agree to provide accurate information and to keep your login credentials secure. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
4. How ScrollCheckpoint Works
How this works depends on which device you use.
On Android:
ScrollCheckpoint uses your device's built-in Accessibility Service to detect which app is currently in the foreground, using window state change detection. When you open a tracked app, like Instagram, TikTok, or YouTube, ScrollCheckpoint sends you a notification reminding you to set a scroll alarm. It does not automatically start a scroll alarm or checkpoint on your behalf. You choose whether to act on that notification.
On iOS:
Apple does not allow any app to monitor which other apps are open in real time. ScrollCheckpoint cannot detect when you open another app on iOS. Instead, you manually open ScrollCheckpoint and set your scroll alarm before or when you plan to use another app.
On either platform:
ScrollCheckpoint never sees your screen, never reads content inside any app, and never keeps a record of which apps you open or when.
5. Free and Premium Plans
The free plan includes core scroll alarm and checkpoint features and displays non-personalized ads through Google AdMob. Ads are not shown to Premium subscribers.
Premium removes ads and unlocks additional features. Payments are processed through RevenueCat via the Apple App Store and Google Play billing systems. We do not directly handle, see, or store your payment card details.
Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless cancelled. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time through your Apple App Store or Google Play account settings. Refunds are subject to Apple's and Google's respective refund policies, since all billing is handled through their platforms.
6. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use ScrollCheckpoint to violate any law, reverse engineer or tamper with the app, interfere with its normal operation, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems or other users' accounts.
7. Your Content
Anything you write in your Scroll Journal or enter as part of a checkpoint belongs to you. We do not claim ownership of your content. You are responsible for what you write and agree not to submit anything unlawful, abusive, or harmful.
8. Intellectual Property
ScrollCheckpoint, including its name, logo, design, and underlying software, is owned by us and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works based on the app without our written permission.
9. Third-Party Services
ScrollCheckpoint relies on third-party services to operate, including Supabase for backend and data storage, RevenueCat for subscription and purchase processing, Google AdMob for non-personalized advertising on the free plan, and the OpenAI API for generating checkpoint activity content. Your use of ScrollCheckpoint is also subject to the applicable terms of these providers where relevant.
10. Disclaimers
ScrollCheckpoint is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. ScrollCheckpoint is a habit and wellbeing tool and is not a substitute for professional medical, psychological, or therapeutic advice. We do not guarantee that the app will change your habits or produce any particular outcome.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, ScrollCheckpoint and its team are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app. Our total liability for any claim relating to ScrollCheckpoint is limited to the amount you paid us, if any, in the twelve months before the claim arose.
12. Termination
You may stop using ScrollCheckpoint and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms. Upon account deletion, your data is deleted immediately, as described in our Privacy Policy.
13. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms of Service as ScrollCheckpoint grows. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the app or by email before the changes take effect. Continued use of the app after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.
14. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.
